The Water of Girvan Farson Digital Web Cam has served us all well since it first went live a few years ago. It has on average around 17,ooo unique computers accessing the camera annually with many more hits per year from each of these computers so it’s obviously a popular resource for a variety of users.

Unfortunately, the house that hosts the camera and broadband is changing ownership and the new owners don’t want to continue hosting the service. This is unfortunate but that’s life I’m afraid.

There are benefits for those willing to host a camera, especially for businesses where free advertising is just one incentive. The service doesn’t slow broadband speeds or interfere in any way with the internet service. If anyone can suggest a new host somewhere on the banks of the Girvan, please get in touch with Stuart at the Trust. We really don’t want to be without a camera on this river.

The Garnock and Irvine could also benefit from similar cameras so if anyone knows of suitable locations, please get in touch and we will help to set this up if we can.
