Seasonal Invasive Weeds Officer

 

Ayrshire Rivers Trust (ART) is an independent charity, working throughout Ayrshire to improve the sustainable management and conservation of freshwater fisheries through research, education and habitat management.

 

The trust currently requires a Seasonal Invasive Weeds Officer, to promote the sustainable control of invasive non-native plant species within Ayrshire. ART have entered into an EU part funded project from 2010 – 14, the name of this project is ‘Controlling priority invasive non-native riparian plants and restoring native biodiversity (CIRB)’. ART are looking for a seasonal officer to help deliver the aims of this project during the control months. Key roles include monitoring contractors, awareness raising and control of the invasive non-native species.

 

The ideal candidate will be physically fit, as they will be lifting heavy equipment, highly motivated, have knowledge or experience working outdoors. Understanding of surveying techniques would be advantageous, but not essential. Good written and oral skills along with a full clean driving license are essential. This position is for a 5 months full-time contract (May – Sep) with a salary of £15,000.00 pro rata.
